Healthy Vision Month

Be part of Healthy Vision Month 2023. Help us spread the word about steps Hispanics/Latino families and caregivers can take to protect their loved ones’ vision — especially for children and older adults. Hispanics/Latinos have high rates of vision loss caused by some eye diseases. By taking steps to improve your family’s eye health, you’re working for health equity!

Healthy Vision: A Family Focus

This year, we want to inspire families to team up and learn how to protect their vision together! So for Healthy Vision Month 2023, we’re building on last year’s campaign and highlighting NEI’s new suite of Spanish content and materials to support Spanish-speaking Hispanic/Latino families and caregivers. Use the resources on this page to join the conversation!

We developed some Healthy Vision Month campaign materials using a Spanish-first approach — writing them in Spanish and then translating them into English. During translation, we applied principles of transcreation — adjusting the literal translation to align with the cultural context of the intended audience, in both languages. This helps make sure they're culturally relevant for Hispanic/Latino families, no matter the language. Use the button at the top of the page to switch between English and Spanish.

Take advantage of our resources for older adults

As we get older, finding eye diseases early is important because many are easier to treat in their early stages.

Find resources to help pay for eye care

Making sure everyone has access to quality eye care gets us a step closer to achieving health equity. Many programs can help with free or low-cost eye exams and eyeglasses.
