A focus on your eyes can change your life

Did you know that your eye health is linked to your overall health? In fact, some health conditions — like diabetes or high blood pressure — can raise your risk of getting some eye diseases.

That’s why it’s important to take care of your eye health — just like your overall health. This means knowing your family history of eye diseases and other health conditions, getting dilated eye exams to catch eye diseases early, and practicing eye-healthy habits.

Take steps today to focus on your eye health. It could change your life! Check out the resources we’ve linked below to get more tips.

Learn about how eye disease affects Black/African American communities

Black/African American people have some of the highest rates of vision loss and blindness caused by eye diseases like glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. These rates are rising — but you can take steps to protect your eye health, like getting a dilated eye exam.
