Staff Scientist in Clinical and Translational Studies in Immunology

The Unit on Clinical and Translational Studies in the Laboratory of Immunology at the National Eye Institute (NEI), National Institutes of Heal is seeking to fill a Staff Scientist position.
 
The Laboratory’s goal is understanding the mechanisms involved in immune-mediated eye diseases and associated systemic diseases as well as the development of innovative diagnostic and treatment approaches. The scientific focus of this role is to characterize critical inflammatory and metabolic pathways in uveitis and other immune-mediated eye diseases with the goal of identifying candidate biomarkers and novel mechanistic targets for therapeutic intervention.
 
Specific skills of interest include:
Extensive experience in the phenotyping, manipulation, and functional study of ex-vivo human immune cells is required, including expertise in cell culture, flow cytometry, microscopy and molecular biology, complemented by advanced skills in laboratory data management and analysis. In addition to independently designing and trouble-shooting complex experiments, the ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work effectively with collaborators.
 
Candidates with strong scientific and technical skills are encouraged to apply. Salary is commensurate with experience.
