Although the terms chalazion and stye are often used interchangeably, they are not the same thing. A stye is an infection of an oil gland in the eyelid. A chalazion is a small bump on the eye lid caused by a blocked oil gland in the eye.
Both eye conditions often heal on their own. However, contact your eye care professional if the bump continues to grow.
Currently, the NEI does not have a fact sheet on this condition.
