The National Eye Institute (NEI) Division of Extramural Science Program (DESP) has a position opening in Montgomery County for a Health Scientist Administrator (Program Director) in its Collaborative Clinical Research Program (CCR). The Collaborative Clinical Research Program facilitates and oversees clinical research on the visual system aimed at preventing and treating eye disorders and improving outcomes. This research leads to sight-saving treatments, reduces visual impairment and blindness and improves the quality of life for people of all ages. The Collaborative Clinical Research Program has a strong focus on clinical trial methodology, epidemiology and statistics.
The Collaborative Clinical Research Program embodies a culture of collaboration and broad clinical research expertise, as well as expertise in complex program management, led by a professional team of dedicated, engaged and results-oriented staff.
The program director will facilitate and manage a portfolio of clinical trial and epidemiologic study grants and cooperative agreements. Day-to-day responsibilities related to the scientific administrative oversight of clinical projects include monitoring patient safety and study performance, participation in the activities of the various clinical trial research teams, scientific program development, administrative management of research grant applications and awards, and participation in CCR and DESP planning activities and in the implementation of new policies, mechanisms or approaches for research administration. This position involves extensive interaction with colleagues within CCR, grantees, other researchers, and NIH staff.
