The Eye Clinic: About the clinic

Thank you for your interest in the National Eye Institute's (NEI) Eye Clinic. NEI was established in 1968 "to protect and prolong the vision of the American people". Shortly after, in the early 1970's, a clinical section was created to help carry out NEI's mission, and we are still dedicated to that mission today.

The success of our clinical trials is made possible by volunteers, and we rely on your participation as we continue to find better treatments for eye diseases and disorders.

We have designed this website to help guide you through the Eye Clinic and your clinical trial. On this site, you will learn the purpose of clinical trials, how to sign up for trials, and also meet some of our doctors. We invite you to explore our website for more information on what is underway here at the NEI clinic.
